Saline County is located in Central Missouri. It is named for the Salt Springs of the region.
The seat and largest city are both Marshall.

It borders Carroll, Chariton, Howard, Cooper, Pettis and Lafayette Counties.
Main highways include I-70, US-40, US-65, MO-20 and MO-41.
